SPOOL 1.10.0 Filament Inventory Management INSTALL 1. Open the Spool disk image. 2. Drag Spool.app onto the Applications folder shortcut. 3. Eject the disk image, then open Spool from Applications. If replacing an earlier version, quit Spool first. Your inventory is stored separately from the app and is preserved when you replace the application. REQUIREMENTS Apple silicon Mac (M1 or later), macOS 14 Sonoma or later. This build does not support Intel Macs. FIRST LAUNCH This build is ad-hoc signed and is not Apple-notarized. macOS may block the first launch. After attempting to open it, use System Settings > Privacy & Security > Open Anyway if you trust this copy, then confirm opening Spool. No system-wide security settings need to be disabled. OFFLINE AND LOCAL The PLA catalog, photo label reader and English recognition model are included. No account or image upload is needed. Your inventory is saved to: ~/Library/Application Support/Spool/inventory.json Use Inventory backup in the app to export a copy before moving computers. OPTIONAL HARDWARE Normal inventory entry works without a USB scale or NFC reader. Weigh filament accepts manual weights or a DYMO USB HID scale. Scan NFC supports ACR122U-compatible PC/SC readers and supported or mapped tags. Scan owned tags to see saved remaining grams and percentage. New scans can be weighed in the scan list, entered manually, or confirmed as full rolls. Bambu tags supply original capacity, not a live remaining level. Custom remaining_g tags provide a snapshot that must be confirmed. Some readers may require their manufacturer's driver. Use Settings > Hardware to select your scale and NFC reader. Automatic is available. Saved devices without serial numbers may need reselection after changing ports. Quit DYMO Scale and ShipStation Connect before weighing. The M25 was verified with a fresh stable zero reading on USB ID 0922:8009. A loaded-spool comparison was not performed. Live Snapmaker and Creality scans were checked with the ACR122U on Mac. PHOTO IMPORT Use a clear photo of one label, review the suggested details, and set the quantity before adding. Photo recognition cannot measure remaining filament or reliably identify an unlabeled roll by appearance. NFC BATCHES Each newly scanned roll is highlighted and scrolled into view. Confirm each roll, keep scanning, then Complete once the whole batch is ready. Finish any pending scan batch before quitting Spool to install this update. Create NFC Tags (1.8.0): Write and verify blank NTAG215/216 stickers from an existing roll or standalone filament details. The manual editor offers Create an NFC tag after saving. Existing data and protected tags are not overwritten. These tags work with Spool, not printer factory authentication. Physical writing is not yet hardware-verified. Mac 1.8.1: Add from photo now includes Use iPhone / camera, with a live preview, Capture, Retake and Use photo. Uses Apple Continuity Camera or a compatible Mac/USB camera. Allow camera permission; use the same Apple Account on your iPhone and Mac and enable Continuity Camera, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Photos feed into offline recognition and review. Live iPhone capture has not yet been hardware-verified. 1.9.0: DYMO USB scale discovery now uses the HID Scale usage page across product IDs, with legacy-ID fallback. Connected model names are shown; gross/tare weights up to 200 kg are supported. Select the scale in Settings → Hardware if more than one is connected. Shipping scales may not resolve light empty spools. Non-USB models require manual input. The updated adapter was verified with a live stable M25 zero-load reading; broader models need physical testing. Duplicate matches for the same USB scale are consolidated. Backups containing gross/tare weights over 100 kg require 1.9.0 or later. 1.10.0: Expanded offline catalog beyond PLA across all six brands: 308 entries and 2,370 color choices. Includes PETG, ABS/ASA, flexible, engineering, composite, and support filaments where offered. Choose Brand > Filament type > Color. New-roll, CSV, and photo starting weights use the catalog default; check the editable weight against your label. Photo matching distinguishes material families, blends, and support filament. All 77 previous catalog IDs and existing inventory remain compatible. Indexed from official regional stores on October 6, 2026; availability varies. Approximate preview swatches are marked.
