SPOOL 1.10.0 — WINDOWS PREVIEW Filament Inventory Management This first Windows build is intended for testing. It was cross-compiled on an Apple Silicon Mac. The inventory core passed automated checks, but installation, the Windows interface, native OCR and USB hardware still need a Windows run. The installer is unsigned; Windows may show an unknown-publisher warning. REQUIREMENTS 64-bit Intel/AMD Windows 10 version 1809 or newer, or Windows 11. This is an x64 build, not a native Windows ARM64 build. Administrator permission is requested by Setup to install under Program Files and install Microsoft's Visual C++ runtime for the offline OCR library. .NET and the English OCR model are included. No first-run downloads are required. Allow approximately 250 MB of disk space. NFC and scale hardware are optional. INSTALL / REMOVE Run Spool-1.10.0-Windows-x64-Preview-Setup.exe and follow Setup. Launch Spool from the Start menu or desktop shortcut. Uninstall using Windows Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Spool. Uninstall removes application files and shortcuts, and keeps your inventory. DATA Inventory is saved to %LOCALAPPDATA%\Spool\inventory.json. Inventory backup exports and restores JSON compatible with the Mac app's version-4 format, including currency, prices, locations, history and NFC links. Restore replaces inventory after confirmation and preserves the previous file beside it with a .before-restore timestamp. Back up important data before testing. FEATURES Six-brand filament catalog (308 entries, 2,370 color choices), plus custom filament. Opened and unopened rolls, grouped quantities, usage and weighing history. Full-roll purchase value, 24 currencies, location manager and filament defaults. CSV template, import preview and atomic batch import. Offline label-photo recognition with required review and editable quantities. Optional DYMO USB HID scale or manual two-stage weighing with empty-spool subtraction. Optional ACR122U/PC-SC NFC batches, duplicate checks and remembered manual mapping. Bambu, Snapmaker, Creality CFS and OpenSpool/NDEF payloads can provide data. Protected/unsupported tag formats require manual selection; recognition is not promised for every brand. PHOTO IMPORT Select Add from photo. Choose a readable label photo, review the suggested filament and details, set quantity, then Complete. Photos stay in memory for the session, are not uploaded and are not saved in inventory. Missing or ambiguous labels can be entered manually. JPEG, PNG, TIFF and BMP are supported; convert HEIC to JPEG/PNG before importing on Windows. The reader does not count spools, infer price/location, measure remaining filament or identify bare spools reliably. Printed weight is full capacity. Suggestions initially use unopened/full status; change that in Review details for opened rolls. Windows uses the Tesseract 5.2.0 wrapper and bundled native libraries, with the same English model as the Mac app. USB HARDWARE For ACR122U, use the manufacturer's Windows PC/SC driver if Windows does not recognize it. Do not substitute a generic raw USB/libusb driver for PC/SC access. For DYMO USB scales, connect one scale or select it in Settings → Hardware, select USB and wait for stable fresh readings. Weigh the empty spool; remove it and verify zero; weigh the loaded spool. Use the same empty-spool model and remove packaging. These Windows adapters have not been tested with physical hardware yet. VERIFY ON WINDOWS The share kit includes Verify-Installation.cmd and a generated label fixture. Run the verification script after installation. It exercises local save/reload, catalog loading and the actual bundled Windows OCR libraries without changing your inventory. Results are written to %TEMP%\Spool-smoke-test.txt. Also check a normal launch, add/edit/open/merge, CSV and JSON backup operations, photo review/Complete, optional devices, and uninstall/reinstall persistence. THIRD-PARTY NOTICES See THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.txt and Resources\Licenses / Resources\OCR for notices. Version 1.5: Add from photo accepts shelf photos, detects visible light label panels, groups matching labels into suggested quantities, and shows crop previews. Review every entry before Complete. Use Add missed filament for labels that were hidden or unreadable. Recognition differs by platform; shelf OCR still needs a Windows runtime check. Version 1.5.1: Filament defaults apply by brand and filament type across all colors. Old color-specific rules consolidate using the last saved rule. Existing roll values stay unchanged unless you apply defaults to existing rolls. Version-4 backups require Spool 1.5.1 or later on either platform. Version 1.6.0: Scan owned NFC tags to view saved remaining grams and percentage without duplicating inventory. New tags require confirmation of full/unopened status, manual remaining weight, or weighing directly from the scan list. Custom JSON tags can supply a remaining_g snapshot (with weight_g); confirm it is current. Bambu tags do not expose live remaining weight. Opened/weighed scan entries have quantity one; unopened entries support bulk quantities. No physical reader or scale test was performed for this release. Version 1.7.0: Settings includes scale and NFC reader dropdowns with saved local selections, disconnected-device entries and Automatic mode. NFC retries transient reads and resets failed authentication sessions before trying another brand. Snapmaker and Creality CFS metadata decoding added. DYMO M25 detection corrected to product ID 8009. Quit DYMO Scale and ShipStation Connect when weighing in Spool. Windows runtime and physical devices still require a Windows test. The M25 may report stable zero with no unit code. That exact zero report is accepted; nonzero reports still require a supported unit. Mac testing verified a fresh zero reading; Windows hardware operation remains untested. Version 1.7.1: Newly scanned tags are highlighted and brought into view automatically so additional batch entries do not remain hidden below the visible list. Create NFC Tags (1.8.0): Write and verify blank NTAG215/216 stickers from an existing roll or standalone filament details. The manual editor offers Create an NFC tag after saving. Existing data and protected tags are not overwritten. These tags work with Spool, not printer factory authentication. Physical writing is not yet hardware-verified. 1.9.0: Detects DYMO vendor 0922 with HID Scale usage page 8D across product IDs (legacy 8003/8004/8009 fallback). Shows the connected model. Gross/tare weights support up to 200 kg; inventory filament capacity remains 100 kg. Non-USB scales require manual weights. Shipping scales may not resolve light spools. Other models and Windows hardware still need physical validation. Backups with gross/tare measurements above 100 kg require 1.9.0 or later. 1.10.0: Expanded offline catalog beyond PLA across all six brands: 308 entries and 2,370 color choices. Includes PETG, ABS/ASA, flexible, engineering, composite, and support filaments where offered. Choose Brand > Filament type > Color. New-roll, CSV, and photo starting weights use the catalog default; check the editable weight against your label. Photo matching distinguishes material families, blends, and support filament. All 77 previous catalog IDs and existing inventory remain compatible. Indexed from official regional stores on October 6, 2026; availability varies. Approximate preview swatches are marked.
