Visualization of the gold pineapple lamp glowing on a stone table, with a tall olive-green crown

A BUILD BY 3D MIEKS / 01

Pineapple
Lamp.

A little tropical.
A lot of character.

01 / GET TO KNOW THE BUILD

Good design.
From every angle.

Turn it around, lift off the crown, and see how the panels sit inside the frame. This viewer uses the actual Fusion geometry.

LIVE 3D / ACTUAL CAD GEOMETRY

Sharp outside. Flat polygon panels keep the graphic pineapple silhouette.

Serviceable inside. The LED carrier twists out from underneath. No screws.

Your finish. Gold and olive, or your own two-color combination.

02 / TWO WAYS TO MAKE IT

Same silhouette.
Your kind of workshop.

Choose laser-cut acrylic for crisp, glass-like panels, or print the inserts for a build you can make with an FDM printer.

THE ACRYLIC BUILD

Clean edges.
Warm, jewel-like light.

Print the frame, crown, and LED carrier. Cut the thirty separate inserts from 3 mm yellow translucent acrylic with the Bambu Lab R1, then seat and glue them into the frame.

  • Optional pineapple-eye engraving adds texture.
  • Keep the full outside cutting contour separate from the engraving artwork.
  • Engrave first, then cut, so the parts stay registered.
  • Test one panel before cutting the complete set.

Use the machine’s material workflow and a small test coupon. No universal power or speed setting is assumed. The R1 bed is 600 × 300 mm; arrange the panels across jobs if needed. R1 details ↗

256 × 256 × 256 mm

A standard-sized printer is all you need.

The separate parts fit a standard 256 × 256 × 256 mm FDM build volume. Print them separately and split the panel set across plates as needed. On another printer, use its matching slicer profile, retain the custom frame supports, and check the sliced preview. No laser? Choose the printed panels.

04 / FROM PARTS TO PINEAPPLE

Build it.
Light it. Enjoy it.

  1. 01

    PRINT & CLEAN

    Start with the structure.

Use the optimized profiles for the frame, crown, and LED carrier. Keep the frame’s custom supports and intended orientation. Remove supports carefully, paying particular attention to the panel seats and locking features.

    Inspect the frame ↗
  2. 02

    MAKE THE INSERTS

    Thirty pieces of light.

Laser-cut 3 mm acrylic, or print the alternative inserts flat. Keep the cutting contour with each engraving design, preserve 1:1 scale, and sort by shape. Make one test piece first; don’t apply a second outline reduction to an already adjusted file.

    Choose your method ↗
  3. 03

    FIT & BOND

    Seat each panel from outside.

Press each insert toward its own flat facet until it rests on the recessed ledge. After checking the fit, apply a small amount of compatible adhesive to the supporting lip. Keep the visible face clean and allow the adhesive to cure fully.

    Inspect the panels ↗
  4. 04

    TEST & CONNECT

    Bring in the light.

Disconnect USB power before assembly. Place the 60 × 8 mm LED puck in its carrier with the light facing into the lamp. Route its 2.9 mm cable through the carrier’s cable opening and align it with the rear outlet. Keep the wire out of the tabs and cam path.

    Inspect the LED mount ↗
  5. 05

    TWIST & LOCK

    No screws. Easy access.

Insert the carrier from underneath with both tabs aligned to their entry slots, then rotate into the locking position. Stop if the cable pinches or the lock binds. The carrier stays removable; don’t glue the locking joint.

    Inspect the carrier ↗
  6. 06

    FINISH & SWITCH ON

    Add the crown.

Dry-fit the green crown at the shoulder, check its orientation, and secure the mounting contact as required by your print fit. Keep adhesive away from serviceable parts. Reconnect the kit, switch it on, and find its new home.

    Inspect the crown ↗

05 / SMALL DETAILS, BETTER RESULTS

A few things
worth getting right.

The frame and crown are designed as separate prints. Keep your chosen finish consistent, and let the materials do the work.

How do I use the custom supports?

Load the final frame print profile and retain its prepared support geometry and orientation. Check the sliced preview before printing. Remove support contact marks from the panel seats so the inserts can lie flat. The crown is not described as support-free; follow its profile.

Can I use printed panels instead of acrylic?

Yes. Use the dedicated 3 mm panel bodies and translucent filament. Print them flat and test the appearance with your LED first. Printed inserts diffuse the light differently from laser-cut acrylic.

What about the pineapple-eye engraving?

It is an optional surface detail for the acrylic version. Keep each full outside cut contour with its corresponding engraving artwork. Engraving lines are not cut lines, and the smaller light opening in the printed lip is not the acrylic cutting outline.

Do I need an X2D or a laser?

No. The separate parts fit a standard 256 × 256 × 256 mm FDM printer. Use the correct profile for your machine, retain the custom frame supports, and check the sliced preview. If you do not have a laser, print the alternative inserts in translucent filament. The assembled lamp is taller than the print volume because the crown and frame are separate prints.

Can I scale the lamp?

Keep the production parts at 100% if you are using the specified LED kit and 3 mm acrylic. Uniform scaling also changes the LED recess, locking clearances, and panel seats. Redesign those interfaces separately if you change the size.

What glue should I use?

Choose a clear adhesive whose manufacturer lists both the sheet material and your printed filament. Test it on scraps for adhesion and haze, follow the cure time, and use only a small amount on the recessed lip. Keep the LED carrier removable.

What light source is this designed for?

The removable mount is modeled for the 60 × 8 mm LED Lamp Kit-001 and a 2.9 mm cable. Use that low-voltage LED kit with its specified USB supply. This is not a socket for mains bulbs or hot lamps. Keep it indoors and check the assembled lamp during its first powered test.
